Rosenblatt, of San Rafael, Calif., has spent a decade as a registered nurse and 30 years as an attorney and litigator , now counseling families on aging issues in collaboration with her psychologist husband, Dr. Mikol S. Davis.

“The culture of being independent and the ingrained habits of not asking for help can truly be a source of conflict with their children when Mom and Dad begin to lose the ability to care for themselves,” Rosenblatt said. “Planning in advance and having the necessary, though difficult, conversations can do much to reduce conflict,” she said.
