Carolyn Rosenblatt began her career as an RN, primarily working as a visiting nurse for 10 years. She made thousands of house calls to hundreds of elderly people and their families. Carolyn is very familiar with what it is like to live with the problems of aging. Carolyn is also an attorney who vigorously represented injured individuals over a 27-year career. Sometimes she brought cases against nursing homes.
When Carolyn retired from litigation and trial work, she started AgingParents.com with her husband, Dr. Mikol Davis. Initially, Carolyn planned to help resolve conflicts involving elders and their families. As she began working as a mediator, she found that her clients often needed someone with knowledge to provide answers on both healthcare and legal questions. Those two areas of expertise can rarely be found in the same individual, and Carolyn saw an opportunity to bring her two professions together to fill that need.
Expert Legal, Medical and Psychological Guidance
Together, Carolyn and Mikol developed AgingParents.com to assist those who have aging loved ones and need expert guidance. Carolyn is passionate about the safety of elders and has a particular interest in preventing elder abuse in any form. Since starting AgingParents.com, she has consulted with many individuals and families, both locally and across the US. She meets with adult children and elderly parents by phone, in person or via Skype to help them resolve issues and figure out the best way forward.
Carolyn has written The Boomer's Guide to Aging Parents, which is available in print, digital and audiobook formats. She blogs weekly at Forbes.com and at AgingParents.com, where she discusses news items and issues pertaining to aging, healthy aging, the care of elders and the concerns of adult children and caregivers.
Problem Solver and Mediator
Carolyn is particularly skilled at sorting out the tangled issues that her clients present, and she can quickly develop a plan for solving complex problems. Carolyn is very practical and gives easy-to-understand and realistic advice. She follows up with her clients and supports them in putting their plans into action.
A talented mediator, Carolyn can help families at war about their aging parents work their way to agreement. This area, called "elder mediation" is a developing field. She and Dr. Davis are a team, helping families resolve their disputes without going to court. If families have already started a legal battle, Carolyn and Mikol can help family members develop written agreements that resolve their disputes.
It has been said that a couple that gets along well can work well together, and this is a couple that does. Carolyn and Mikol have been happily married since 1982.
